The Power In Funding Initiative is based on seeding capital into a targeted demographic region in order to effect significant (positive) economic impact. This particular source of capital is reserved for businesses operating in the Houston, TX Consolidated Metropolitan Statistical Area (CMSA). The entrepreneur does not necessarily have to LIVE in the CMSA; however, the business (or a branch, chapter, etc.) must operate out of the Houston, TX CMSA. Also, the entrepreneur may live in the Houston, TX CMSA and operate a business that is not located in the Houston, TX CMSA and still qualify.
For those businesses and/or entrepreneurs not located in the Houston, TX CMSA, you are still able to apply; however, in order to receive funding you must establish a legal commercial branch/chapter/headquarters, etc. within the Houston, TX CMSA.
This means that technically, you can live in Alaska and still apply for funding!
Applications will begin to be taken on February 1, 2012 and will continue to be taken until May 1, 2012. However, due to a limited amount of resources to process and evaluate applications we will stop accepting applications when we reach our maximum capacity. If this occurs prior to May 1, 2012, we will no longer be taking applications for consideration to receive the $40k forgivable microloan.
Applications to be evaluated for a share of the $1 billion in private investment funds will be ongoing indefinitely. beginning also on February 1, 2012. The application for the private investment funds is the SAME application (and process) for the $40k microloans; no additional application (or process) is required.
If you DO NOT HAVE a business plan or executive summary at the time of application, Power In Numbers will facilitate your acquiring a business development expert to assist you in developing your plan.
Every business MUST submit a business plan or an executive summary to be considered for funding through this initiative. Those who submit just an executive summary will be guided on how to evolve that summary into a full-blown business plan (provided they don't already have one). If your business has a business plan, it WILL be required in order to receive funding. With that in mind, it is highly recommended that you submit the entire plan with your application. You do still have the option to submit only the executive summary; but keep in mind that the full business plan WILL be required in order to receive funding.
If you DO NOT HAVE a business plan or executive summary at the time of application, Power In Numbers will facilitate your acquiring a business development expert to assist you in developing your plan.
The business plan/executive summary must address the following at a minimum:
The opportunity to win a $40k microloan for your business venture is tremendous; however, even if you don't receive the forgivable microloan, there is still a LOT of capital available for your business development needs. The ITC has secured over $1 billion to seed specifically into SMBs who operate in the Houston, TX Consolidated Metropolitan Statistical Area (CMSA).
Power In Numbers will provide and facilitate the business development that your business will need to be eligible to receive your share of that investment capital. As a part of our economic development initiative, we provide those services at absolutely no charge to you, the entrepreneur. The very same application used to apply for the microloan is used to begin the process of preparing your business for review by investors.
This funding initiative is 100% merit-based. This means that the ONLY things considered are the details, forecasts and strategies laid out in your business plan (or executive summary).
Those businesses who are fortunate enough to receive the loan will have a 60-month term at 0% interest. If the loan is paid back in that period of time; the business is eligible to receive an additional $40k, for an additional 60-month period. If for whatever reason the business is unable to pay back the loan, then it will be written off as a "loss" by Power In Numbers. We will not continue any collection efforts and will not report the default to the credit bureaus.
Although it is our hope and intent that these loans are NOT defaulted on; we understand (as entrepreneurs ourselves) that debt can be the difference between keeping your business afloat and shutting your doors forever. We will provide all of our resources and energy in assisting the loan recipients in growing their respective enterprises, and continue to have available a reliable and renewable source of capital.
There are many, many wonderful business ideas that never get implemented. Some do not because of a lack of initiative on the part of the creator; however, most simply lack the resources to build the business. As entrepreneurs ourselves, Power In Numbers understands the need to provide resources to great business ideas without regard to issues such as the creator's credit, financial status, credentials, education and other mitigating circumstances.

This funding initiative does not "punish success". We encourage prosperity and want to do our parts in actively promoting and participating in continued growth and prosperity. For this reason, we do not set a gross revenue cap on our qualification standards for SMB classification.
NOTE: Due to resource limitations applications will not be taken until further notice.
